Student housing in Switzerland

Studying at EPFL, UNIL, UniGE or elsewhere: flatsharing is often the most flexible option. Here is how to find a room that fits student life.

Campus and transport

On the Danaides map, check distance to campus and TL/TPG/ZVV stops. A slightly lower rent outside the centre can be offset by a long commute between classes.

Academic calendar

Plan for the start of term: August–October is busiest in Lausanne and Geneva. Widen to Vevey, Nyon, Fribourg or Annemasse if the centre is saturated.

Application and viewing

Prepare a short intro (studies, budget, move-in date). Ask for a viewing or video call, and never pay outside a safe process before seeing the place.

Living together

Clarify house rules, how charges are split and lease length. A good listing already states roommate count and who they are looking for.
